Clinical Support Staff

General Statement of Duties

The Clinical Support Staff (CSS) is a member of the Public Health team and assists in the care of patients and clinic activities.

Distinguishing Features of the Position

Responsible for effectively organizing and/or prioritizing work to assist with efficient patient flow in the clinic, providing administrative support for clinic tasks and provider team, completion of clinical work and assigned tasks related to patient care and supporting organizational mission and goal achievement, organization quality goals, and providing safe, patient-centered care.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Tasks

v  Assists in the completion of routine clinic tasks.   Ensures consistency in maintaining stock supplies, forms, sterile instrument inventory, equipment, appropriate disposal of biohazard material, etc. Timing and assignment of tasks determined by Public Health Staff at clinic location.

v  Completes appropriate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record and any other applicable forms/tracking logs, etc.

v  Gives patient instructions/education to patients as directed by medical team.

v  Knowledgeable of and complies with organization policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations including HIPAA, OSHA, and infection control standards.

v  Assists with health fairs and outreach programs, as requested

v  Engage and participate in the practices’ continuous quality improvement activities including activities involving population management

KSA’s and Minimum Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

vMust be able to read and generate written medical communication and documentation.

vAbility to communicate effectively with staff, patients, providers, peers, supervisor or other collaborative community agencies.

vMaintains a professional appearance and exhibits professionalism in all interactions.

vKnowledge of the Microsoft Access, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Excel.

vAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with human services agencies, County and State officials, employees, other departments, and the public.

vAbility to work effectively with special populations.

vAbility to communicate effectively in oral and written forms.

 

Minimum Requirements and Experience

vHigh School graduate/GED equivalency required.

vBLS CPR certification required.

vCSS Certification/Licensure – MA – Medical Assistant Certification or Registered Medical Assistant required.

vCurrently licensed (in NC) LPN, Certified CNA.

vMust obtain minimum certification as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.

vand one (1) year work experience in an administrative or support position. 

vEquivalent combination of education and experience.

vSuccessful pre-employment drug screen.

vSuccessful criminal Background check.

The ability to perform all duties associated with the position including, but not limited to lifting, prolonged standing, driving, sitting, bending, stooping, and operating or performing work with associated tools and machines.
