Location: Positions available in Alleghany, Ashe, or Watauga Counties. Travel inside and outside the district will be required; onsite work will be required, with flexibility for teleworking as applicable to the key duties of the position
Salary Range: $26,580-42,096 annually; starting salary based on education & experience
Hours: The hours for this position are generally 40 hours per week between the hours of 7:00am and 6:00pm; however, due to the high demand for this work, evening and weekend work may be required.

Job Description: This position will work alongside the Environmental Health Specialists to provide additional capacity for processing water protection applications as well as responding to potential environmental health hazards like failing septic systems.
Nature of Work: The primary role of this position is to conduct field work to sites for assurance sites ready for evaluation by the REHS on staff are prepared and ready. Additionally, data entry and computer entry for documenting visits, phone calls, scheduling visits, drawing permits for approval by the Registered Environmental Health Specialists, and follow up with Environmental Health customers will be a key element of work. This is a high-paced environment and will require an energetic person with good communication skills and flexibility to shift as work demands change day-to-day. A successful candidate will bring a basic knowledge of mathematics, ability to maintain and complete reports, and ability to communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Training Requirements and Experience: High school diploma and one year experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
