NCAPHA is actively recruiting for Local Health Director position placed at Robeson County Health Department.
TITLE: LOCAL HEALTH DIRECTOR
DUTIES: Chief policy maker in Robeson County for public health and indigent health care services, including securing financing of said activities. To manage and direct the agency with the responsibility to preserve and protect the public’s health. Responsible for short-range as well as long-range planning. As such, this position is expected to research and monitor state or local laws/rules regarding public health practices. To research and monitor emerging public health trends and issues; propose recommendations for new or improved polices, resources or procedures to local and state officials and health service providers. Responsible for defining and enacting the department’s vision of public health needs for the community. Responsible for keeping public health issues at the conscious level of the public, governmental officials and other providers. This entails working closely with staff, community members, the Board of Health, County Commissioners, County Manager and numerous state and local officials.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A medical doctorate; or a master’s degree in public health administration and at least one year of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a public health discipline other than public health administration and at least three years of employment experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in public administration and at least two years experience in health programs or health services; or a master’s degree in a field related to public health and at least three years of experience in health programs or health services; or a bachelor’s degree in public health administration or public administration and at least three years experience in health programs or health services. A valid NC Driver’s license is required.
Preference will be given to applicants with a Master’s Degree in Public Health.
NOTE: Minimum training and experience requirements are in accordance with G.S. 130A-40 and G.S. 130A-45.5. For master’s degree related to public health, the determination must be made by the State Health Director.
