JOB TITLE: Public Health Nursing Supervisor I
DEPARTMENT: Public Health
SALARY: Based on experience

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to provide supervision,
planning, coordination, guidance and direction to staff in the primary areas of General Clinic
(communicable disease / TB / VPD / STD / HIV, Immunizations, Disease Prevention and
Screening). Family Planning: Laboratory clinical support services; infection control. PH
Nursing Supervisor I will work under the direct supervision of the Nursing Director.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s in Nursing and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing
rotation and three years of Public Health nursing experience; or
Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of Public Health
Nursing experience; or
Graduation from a school of professional nursing and four years of professional nursing experience three of
which must have been in Public Health; or
An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Preference given to applicants with Public Health Nursing Supervisory experience
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: A current valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North
Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing. Requires valid N.C. driver’s license.
