NCAPHA is actively recruiting for a Public Health Educator placed at Harnett County Health Department.

 

Position Vacancy (ALLIANCE POSITIONS)

 

The Public Health Educator (PHE) position supports the Harnett County Health Department’s mission to improve the health of its communities by providing community-focused education to help individuals and communities make healthy lifestyle choices, and other services that promote health.

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:  Plans organize and conduct comprehensive health education programs. Must have excellent written and oral communication skills. Continually monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the assigned program. Manage workload to achieve departmental goals. Assist in planning and implementing community health education programs. Gathers statistical information and creates related reports. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level public health educator.

 

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:  Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of public health and public health education activities. Ability to write and speak effectively in presenting ideas.  General knowledge of the functions of community health agencies. General knowledge of methods and techniques used in preparing and disseminating educational information to the public. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community organizations, and the public.  Must be able to interpret data in programmatic areas and within assigned areas of responsibilities.  ACCEPTABLE TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:  Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in health education; or graduation from a four-year college or university and completion of one year of on-the-job training as a public health educator. Trainee: Graduation from four-year College or university.  Candidate must have a valid NC Driver’s license and vehicle for travel to community sites for program activities.
