Innovative Approaches Coordinator
General Statement of Duties:
This position is part of a pilot project called Innovative Approaches and is funded through the NC Division of Child and Family Well-Being, Whole Child Health section in cooperation with the Polk County Division of Public Health. This is a 3-year grant-funded position with the possibility of renewal at the end of the initial grant cycle. The grant cycle begins on June 1st, 2022. The purpose of the Innovative Approaches initiative is threefold:
- To foster and support community strategies to create effective systems of care for families of CSHCN;
- To identify promising practices, and then;
- To help disseminate these practices to other communities.
This is a consultative position to improve the community-wide systems of care to best meet the needs of families of children and youth with special health care needs* (CYSHCN). The consultant staffs and maintains a steering committee of community agencies and parents to assess system issues affecting families of CYSHCN, facilitates the development of an action plan driven by parent and provider data, facilitates the completion of action items, and assists with all evaluation efforts.
Required Minimum Training:
A master’s degree in public or human services administration or a human services programmatic field preferably with course work in human services planning and one year of experience in human service program planning or administration; or graduation from a four-year college or university and three years of administrative of consultative experience in a human service program; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledges, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration with more specific knowledge of the planning process; and of program areas to which assigned. Ability to communicate effectively with professional and administrative personnel; exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures.
Pre-employment drug screen, driver history and criminal background check is required of finalist applicant.
Salary Grade: 26
Minimum Starting Salary: $46,123. Hiring rate will be determined based on qualifications and internal equity.
