NCAPHA IS ACTIVELY RECRUITING FOR A SCHOOL HEALTH LIAISON TO BE PLACED AT THE TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY H. DEPT IN BREVARD, NC

 

School Health COVID 19 Liaison   Public Health Nurse II

This position provides nursing services for Transylvania County Public Schools. The School Health program is conducted by Transylvania Public Health, in cooperation with the Transylvania County Schools.  The intent of this program is to facilitate a collaborative effort by the TPH and TCS to develop and maintain a comprehensive School Health Program with measurable outcomes related to health and well-being of the students in the school system.

·       Assist with supplemental COVID response to include COVID tracking, tracing, and possible testing as it pertains to school age child.

·       Serve as health advocate, health information resource, and health educator for students.

Support school nurses in providing the health services necessary to assist students in attaining health and educational goals.

·       Serve as an educational, procedural, and direct care resource to other nurses in providing assistance in nursing services.

·       Participates in Public Health Preparedness activities as deemed necessary by the Health Department.  Staffs and oversees emergency shelters if needed.  Participates in community Flu/COVID Clinics and other services as needed.   

 

 

Knowledge’s, Skills and Abilities:

Employee must possess considerable knowledge of nursing theory, principles, and practices of public health.  Must have knowledge of available resources and organizations and the ability to coordinate these as needed.  Must be able to deal tactfully with others and exercise good judgment in assessing situations and making decisions. Must have a general knowledge of social and economic problems relating to school health and  public health, including health disparities.  Must have the ability to work with considerable independence to self-plan work.

Required Minimum Training:

Graduation from a four-year university or college with a BS Degree in Nursing that includes a Public Health rotation and one year of Public Health Nursing experience; or graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience including one year in public health or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:

Licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the NC Board of Nursing

Current NC Driver’s License

CPR Certification
