Infection Prevention Training Facilitator

  GENERAL INFORMATION:

The primary purpose and mission of Granville Vance Public Health (GVPH) is to promote good health and prevent disease in the community. Granville Vance Public Health has facilities in both Granville and Vance Counties, located in central North Carolina, north of Raleigh and Wake County. POSITION LOCATION:

This is a remote position, where the Infection Prevention Training Facilitator will primarily provide services in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, and Wilson counties. This position reports to the Regional Prevention Support Team Infection Prevention Coordinator in Oxford, NC.

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Infection Prevention Training Facilitator will work full-time on the Region 7- Regional Prevention Support (RPS) Team as an Infection Prevention Training Facilitator with a special focus on COVID-19. The hours needed may range from 30 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. This position may require weekend and after-hour work.

 

The primary purpose of this contract is to serve as an RPS team member in region 7, which includes the following counties: Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Johnston, Nash, Vance, Wake, Warren, and Wilson.  The Training Facilitator will have primary responsibility for facilitating the activities of the Region 7 RPS Team under the guidance of the Region 7 RPS Team Coordinator. Specifically, this person will work with their team and long-term care settings to:

1) perform infection control & prevention assessments,

2) conduct infection prevention education to staff in these settings,

3) provide infection control & prevention guidance to these settings,

4) develop and/or revise tools to assist in the assessment and promotion of infection prevention compliance,

5) assist in the investigation, control, education, prevention and care activities to reduce morbidity and mortality associated with COVID-19, and

6) work in coordination with the NC Division of Public Health and the NC Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (NC SPICE) to address identified infection prevention and control gaps.

 

These responsibilities will require travel among the counties and may include in-person visits and virtual communication with team members and long-term care facilities.

 

The Infection Prevention Training Facilitator must have a cell phone and laptop available for use.

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred contractor will have experience in Health Sciences or are currently pursuing Certification or a Degree in a Health Sciences Field, such as Nursing, Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Paramedic. Experience in Long Term Care Facility settings is a plus. Additional knowledge in areas of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, environmental infection prevention and control, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, epidemiology,program administration and team management are favored.

 

COMPENSATION:

$25.00 per hour. Travel will be reimbursed at the current Federal mileage rate.
